The season brings us a chance to reflect, recharge and look to the future. There are so many things in life over which we have no control but our well being and looking after our bodies and minds to the best of our individual ability is something we can achieve and we aim to help you do just that - whatever your age!!

YOUTH MOVES   -  a mix of fun dance routines & all round dance technique in a variety of styles, dance games – a great introduction to dance – age 4 – 7 (must have started school)

 STREET MOVES -   street & commercial dance styles for ages 7 – 11 (school years 3 – 6) -   learn correct street technique and make routines in a variety of styles from this genre – fast paced and energetic

Thursdays - Newfield Community Hall, Marlow 4.15 - 5.10 school years 3 , 4, 5 & 6

CREATIVE MOVES  -   explore a variety of dance styles including contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, Laban;   through guided task work learn how to make  and develop dances from a variety of different stimuli  -  guide age 10 – 16 ( we have capacity for a younger class aged 7 - 11 - get in touch for waiting list for this age group)

Thursdays - Newfield Community Hall 5.15. - 6.10 guide age 10 - 16

 

PROJECT DANCE -  Learn Classical Ballet technique and choreography to improve your posture, dance technique, strengthen your core  and see your confidence soar – this will give you an edge for all your other activities as well as the opportunity to explore your creative side and work towards performances.  As a performance class, with no exams, participation in our annual show is part of your progression and is expected.

4.00 - 4.45 Juniors age 7 - 11

4.45 - 5.30 Intermediate age 11 upwards

5.30 - 6.30 Seniors (invitation or grade 2 level to join)

6.30 - 7.00 Point & Demi Pointe (invitation only must take Senior class beforehand)

Project Dance & Creative Moves are  both suitable for dancers who  need to improve their technique for GSCE or A -Level in an inspiring, fun and imaginative way.

DANCE CREW -   The aim of the class is to have fun whilst improving stamina, flexibility and strength in a non-competitive and socially inclusive environment.

Thursdays Newfield Community Hall - 6.15 - 7.17 school years 7 - 13

A mix of Street, Commercial, Lyrical, Fitness and Aerobic dance.  The routines are as cutting edge as dance itself is continually inspired by new influences

along the way students learn about choreography meaning the class can be complimentary to GCSE or A-Level studies, particularly when taken alongside Project Dance.

 All classes  have the  opportunity to shine at our annual dance show which takes place on Sunday 28th April 2024

ADULT DANCE WORKSHOPS

OUR NEXT DANCE WORKSHOPS ARE :

JAZZ with Natasha - a great dance workout suitable for all , you will learn Jazz dance technique and acheive a dance routine Thursday 18th May - Booking and payment by Sunday 14th May is essential

HEELS with Amy - Thursday 25th May & Thursday 8th June - this class is taken in a heel (or trainer) It is a dance style rather than a workout - you will use all your muscles but is not a cardio class. You will work on a routine

SUMMER TERM BOOKING OPEN & SHOW TICKETS ON SALE

We love the summer at JDFD, so many exciting things to do and, well the sunshine just makes everything better, doesn’t it? We look forward to a variety of outdoor performances too.

Preparations are well underway for our annual performance on Sunday 30th April at Sir William Borlase Grammar School Theatre. There are two performances - 1.15 and 3pm

Bookings are open for our summer term of classes and we welcome new members where we have spaces. Priority booking is always given to our current pupils so don’t leave it too late to re book

Adult classes for the summer term will continue - weekly we have Pilates & Ballet and each half term we do a 4 week block of Jazz & Heels.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - BOOKING FOR JANUARY CLASSES IS OPEN

We look forward to welcoming you to our classes in 2023. We have so much to offer and are excited for this year ahead.

For our young people we have a performance in May - Sunday 7th May to be precise and we hope as many of you as possible will want to take part. The best news is that the King has decreed a bank holiday the day after for us all to recover - how thoughtful :)

For adults - you can rekindle a passion for movement and dance or get fit with us. Pilates will make your back the happiest it has ever been and our Ballet, Heels and Jazz will delight and get those feel good endorphins going in no time at all. There are a variety of day and eve sessions to make it possible for everyone and all ages are welcome at all classes.

We have a wonderful theme based around Science & The Body - we will be inventing and exploring through dance, fitness, games, arts, theatre skills and more - our ‘professors’ of arts will inspire your young people through creativity and fun

Our fabulous dancers are growing up and our Junior class have become our seniors - we are optimistic that NOW is a great time to start a new fulfilling activity and are offering trail sessions of our Project Dance Ballet Classes. Progress is through performances and very much focuses on developing the dancers creativity alongside their technical abilities

We are so pleased to be offering some classes at Holy Trinity School Marlow after half term.

These new classes at Holy Trinity School are only open to pupils of that school. Our other classes already running in community venues on Tuesdays and Thursdays are unaffected and we welcome children from any school to those.

Our new term commences from week beginning Monday September 13th. Back in our halls & studios and excited to see everyone, whether regular dancers or new faces, we are always happy to meet new people so do contact us to find out where we will have spaces .

Children & Young people need to do fun things with their friends more than ever and you need to feel confident that they are in a safe environment with caring professionals with a passion for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm.

Restrictions have been lifted but good practice is to continue to keep everything clean and ensure our spaces are not crowded. We will still be taking lateral flow tests twice weekly to ensure all our safety.

A non -refundable £20 deposit secures your place for children’s classes with balance due by 5th September ………..

We are in various venues in the town: UCL Church Hall, All Saints Church, Foxes Piece School & Newfield Place.

All being well face to face young peoples classes may resume after the Easter Holidays - Yippee. All at central Marlow venues.

We are taking bookings for our classes. government restrictions will only allow a max class size of 15. Take a look around our website for class descriptions. Priority given to those currently dancing with us online. Then we have an open list for anyone - you don’t need to attend a particular school to take part unless specified. Where classes are oversubscribed we will aim to put on another one.
